WEDDINGS BY MAUREEN – THE GALWAY RACES

Did you meet at the Galway Races?

Galway race week is renowned for its great racing, great craic and great form, but what about the form that happens away from Ballybrit! Over the year’s we have played host to some great romances here in the Ardilaun Hotel during race week and for many who met here we were also the lucky hosts then for their weddings throughout the years.

How do you best describe the atmosphere during Galway race week? Well, that’s a difficult question but I am fairly sure that if you could harness the energy during the week you would power a rocket to the moon and back. The friendships renewed each year, the welcome of the crowd and the buzz of the evenings is very unique to Galway. So it only follows that for many it was where a great romance began.

When you think of romantic locations for many their minds will go to Paris or Rome for others it will be the allure of New York, all great spots but if you are looking for heart and soul like no other place then it has to be Galway on race week. The roar of the crowd, the allure and style of the ladies, the young stallions all lined out and that’s only the fella’s, all the pulses racing, its like lightning in a bottle.

Daffodil Day Coffee Morning

The Ardilaun Hotel in association with the local branch of the Irish Cancer Society are organising a coffee morning this Friday 20th March between 10.30am and 12 noon where all proceeds of the event go directly to this worthwhile charity.

All are welcome to attend and customers are asked to donate €3 to the Irish Cancer Society for Freshly Brewed Tea or Coffee accompanied by Fresh Homemade Fruit & Chocolate Chip Scones all baked inhouse by the kitchen team at The Ardilaun. For anyone interested in attending the coffee morning or supporting the local branch of the Irish Cancer Society, please contact Maria Kelly at The Ardilaun on: 091 519795.

It’s a day for all of us to come together and pin a daffodil to the nation, giving hope and support to people affected by cancer in Ireland. Funds from Daffodil Day ensure that certain  families all around Ireland had a specialist night nurse in their home in their time of need.. so we want to help them more for 2015 and we are supporting them to help them reach this target.
