My approach is deeply influenced by Celtic culture and mythology, the ancient stories, symbols, and beliefs that give this land its unique spirit and make each experience truly distinctive. The tour guides curious travellers through slow, story-led experiences that connect Galway’s heritage, art, nature, and everyday life with many different languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese. Galway Bay Tours is a family run business, operating boat tours and fishing trips around Claddagh and Galway Bay since April 2012.

Their love for the sea comes from generations of family sailing and fishing, with roots going back over 100 years to the fishing village of Claddagh. Popular with tourists and locals, our boat tours cater for families, individuals and groups.

They range from the 1 hour boat trip around Claddagh, Spanish Arch, The Long Walk and the Port of Galway, to a more extended trip to allow for fishing (lobster or mackerel) on Galway Bay or why not enjoy a picnic while admiring the view of Salthill and Blackrock from the sea.

The former Galway City Museum, situated in Comerford House, adjacent to the Spanish Arch, was first established in 1971 and had been home to the artist Clare Sheridan. The repository began with a residual collection of medieval stones, which Sheridan had acquired from the city. The original museum closed in 2004 and was replaced by a new purpose-built museum close to Comerford House.

The new Galway City Museum was officially opened in April 2007. The building was designed by the Office of Public Works and is a Galway City Council initiative to advance the cultural and heritage life of Galway City

St. Nicholas’ Collegiate Church is one of Galway’s most important and enduring landmarks, dating back to 1320 and recognised as the largest medieval parish church in Ireland still in continuous use. Located in the heart of Galway’s vibrant pedestrianised city centre, near Shop Street and Eyre Square, the church is known for its impressive gothic architecture, stained-glass windows, civic memorial stonework and peaceful interior.

Visitors can explore centuries of history at their own pace, or take a guided tour to experience the rise and fall of Medieval Galway as shown in the walls, floors, tombs, and even ceilings of the building, learning about its role in the religious and civic life of Galway. For a more unique memory, guests can avail of a bell ringing experience where they climb the 1590 Bell Tower and ring the ten enormous church bells for all of Galway to hear. Throughout the year the church hosts services, concerts and cultural events, making it both a living place of worship and a treasured heritage site. St. Nicholas’ Collegiate Church offers a moment of reflection, historical insight and architectural beauty right in the city’s historic core.
